Director James Cameron has his next project lined up once he is done with the followups to Avatar (2009).
The Hollywood Reporter stated that Cameron will direct The Informationist, which is based on the book by Taylor Stevens.
The film will also be produced by 20th Century Fox.
The story focuses on a woman who spent her teens with gunners and mercenaries in Africa. She becomes an information dealer until someone hire her to find her daughter, who went missing in Africa.
“This was an opportunity to continue our relationship with Fox and Jim Gianopulos beyond the Avatar films," Jon Landau, Cameron’s partner at Lightstorm Entertainment, said. "We were drawn to this book because of the terrific, compelling narrative and the character, who typifies the strong female protagonists that have inhabited Jim’s work. In this case, Vanessa Munroe is essentially a mix of Lisbeth Salander and Jason Bourne.”
Stevens herself spent her childhood in numerous countries, according to Coming Soon. This upbringing included caring for commune children.
Cameron previously said that the only movies he would direct would be ones to Avatar, which is the biggest money-making movie of all time.
