The king and queen of Hip Hop surprised audiences and hit the stage together at Jay-Z’s Barclays Center finale concert in Brooklyn on Saturday night.
MTV reports that Jay’s wife Beyonce hit Brooklyn’s Barclays Center stage after his solo performance of the couple’s duet “03 Bonnie & Clyde." Beyonce stomped out to the tune of “Diva” and then proceeded to perform crowd favorite and chart topper “Crazy in Love" with her husband. Beyonce sported leather shorts and a Brooklyn Nets hat, showing her love for her hubby’s hometown.
Jay-Z was reportedly so dazzled by her performance that he missed his “Crazy in Love” cue and Beyonce decided to pick up his slack rapping, “Young Hova, y’all know the flow is loco.” "Oh sh-- I should probably rap here," Jay later explained of his momentary lapse.
When the song ended, Jay sent Beyonce off the stage with a slap on the behind, but she would later return in head-to-toe leather and a motorcycle jacket to perform the show’s closing song, “Young Forever,” with Hova.
The New York Daily News reports that Jay also surprised commuter crowds earlier in the evening when he walked into the Canal Street subway station at approximately 6pm on his way to the show. The rapper was accompanied by police escorts and his own security and immediately attracted a gang of followers.
Jay hopped aboard the Brooklyn-bound R train, on which he struck up a conversation with an elderly woman lucky enough to be sitting next to him. A source reports that upon his Atlantic Avenue arrival, crowds lining up for the concert began screaming the moment they spotted him.
Fans who weren't able to snag tickets to the sold-out Barclays finale show were able to watch it live on Jay-Z's new Life + Times YouTube Channel, which had launched that same night.
USA Today reports the channel will feature original video content, including the Brooklyn Nets docu-series The Road to Brooklyn, a fan-interaction show called Roc Nation Check-In, and various other programs.
