Beverly Hills 90210 star Jennie Garth is feeling better than ever after working through a failed marriage, dropping 30 lbs. and turning 40-years-old.
Garth sat down with PEOPLE magazine to discuss the reasons she decided to shed the pounds. “I really feel like that part of me was dead and I need to shed it off,” the actress said. “I got rid of the old and in with the new. A lot of exercising and a lost less eating. I decided to start taking better care of myself.”
But the road to get there wasn’t an easy one for the busy working mom of three.
According to the Daily Mail Garth split from her husband of 11 years, Twilight actor Peter Facinelli, in March, but the actress admitted to having marital problems way before the announcement.
“I spent a couple of years lying in bed being depressed. It was that ‘I can’t breathe’ pain. Physically I didn’t look my best, and mentally I didn’t feel my best. I was doing everything I could to be a good mom, but that was all I could handle.”
Now, Garth is embracing her sexy new body and keeping a positive outlook on aging, deciding to feel young and happy again. “Forty is like the new little black dress. Forty is the new 30,” Garth said.
The actress recently finished filming The Eleventh Hour, a Lifetime movie based on television reporter Nancy Grace’s novel.
