Last night any Trekkies watching Conan got a very short little treat from director J.J. Abrams, who revealed a short (very short) clip from Star Trek Into Darkness, the upcoming sequel to 2009’s reboot.
When Collider reported that the first clip from the sequel had been revealed you would think it would be more than three frames.
Abrams joked that Paramount would only let him bring three frames of the film, making the clip last less than a second.
The director did however explain what was going on in the clip. Spock, played again by Zachary Quinto, is heading into a volcano wearing a protective suit.
The Huffington Post notes that aside from a still of a Klingon that may or may not be in the film, this is the first thing fans are getting of Star Trek: Into Darkness.
The sequel stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Simon Pegg, and, new to the cast, Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch.
Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters May 17, 2013.
