Lady Gaga promises fans that she won't be brought down by criticism

Despite the controversy she may cause, Lady Gaga doesn’t plan on changing her ways. The 26-year-old has always been known for her outrageous outfits, her sometimes controversial music videos, and being outspoken about what she believes in. But whatever her critics may say, Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, isn’t concerned by it, promising “30 more years” criticism.

According to Entertainmentwise, while performing in Switzerland on Saturday, Gaga told her fans that the critics won’t “kill me.”

"They won’t kill me. They won't stop me from speaking my mind. I will make music for you for the next 30 years. I’ll be strong because you made me strong," she said while performing her song, “Hair.” "You know, so… let's cheers. Let's celebrate. To 30 more years of them calling me a slut. To 30 more years of them calling me a fat, attention-seeking whore. To 30 more years of people telling me to shut my mouth about equality and gay rights. May we say cheers and celebrate 30 more years of the conversation that we've started that we're never gonna finish."

As fans wait to see what 30 years will bring for Gaga, in recent weeks she has been criticized for her 25-pound weight gain and she was also recently called a “slut” for her recent stage antics. Billboard reported that the “Born This Way” singer was called a slut by a New York City official after seemingly promoting drug use by smoking marijuana on stage during a show. Her noticeably fuller figure also had people talking. She blamed the weight gain on fatty foods. With all the negative talk about her weight, it made her reveal that she had suffered from an eating disorder since age 15. She used her weight criticism for good, though. She started a Body Revolution and encouraged her fans to embrace their bodies and flaws like she has.

"My weight/loss/gain since I was child has tormented me," she wrote in a post on her website. "No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU [the fans] have. My boyfriend [Taylor Kinney] prefers me curvier, when I eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I'm happy. Happier then I've ever been. I am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny."

She recently flaunted her curves during an outing with Donatella Versace. She wore a tight red dress. She also rocked the same safety pin dress Elizabeth Hurley made famous in 1994.
