Lea Michele will soon prove she is more than just Rachel Berry on Glee. The singer and actress is coming into her own as an artist. She is leaving the cover songs to Glee and recording her own songs for her debut solo album.
The 26-year-old just began work on her solo album, which she excitedly tweeted about recently.
“At the studio right now at my first recording session for MY SOLO ALBUM!! I’m so happy and can’t wait for you all to hear this record!!” she tweeted.
Her first recording session was even more exciting because she found out she was in the company of some really big talent.
“Best news is that @ddlovato [Demi Lovato] is the room right next door 2 me recording her album! :) She’s so sweet & just gave me such great motivation!”
Lea is sure building excitement for her debut. She has spent many days in the studio so far and has even recorded a song written by Katy Perry’s friend and go-to songwriter, Bonnie McKee.
It will take some time for the album to be completed, but this past summer, She gave Nylon Magazine a hint at what type of album she plans to record.
“I want to make songs where girls can just roll down the windows of their car or dance around in their rooms in their underwear, like, 'I hate my ex-boyfriend!' or 'I’m so in love!'” she said. “Because that’s what I want: power-girl songs.”
