Singer Meat Loaf announced his support for Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney Thursday by singing ‘America the Beautiful.’
NBC reported that the singer gave his unique praise to the candidate at a rally in Defiance, OH.
He was joined by fellow music stars Randy Owens, John Rich and Big Kenny.
Owens and Rich reportedly serenaded the crowd before Meat Loaf basically took over by shouting:
"Aaah! Go ahead now brother!"
However, not everyone was pleased with Meat Loaf’s performance.
Inquisitr reported that Sen. John McCain, who challenged President Barack Obama for the White House in the previous presidential election, thought it was a mistake to have the star perform on Romney’s behalf.
“Change the song? Or have someone who knows the words?,” McCain reportedly told TMZ.
Others have also criticized the singer for his performance, as well as comments he made such as this one reported by the Huffington Post.
“There has storm clouds come over the United States … There is thunderstorms over Europe. There are hail storms – and I mean major hail storms – in the Middle East. There are storms brewing through China, through Asia, through everywhere, and there’s only one man that on the other night when President Barack Obama, God bless him, said to Mitt Romney, ‘The Cold War is over.”
