Miley Cyrus and Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth's engagement came as a surprise to many fans, and now the former Hannah Montana starlet is letting everyone in on the proposal.
The “Party in the USA” singer appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where she explained to the host exactly how the proposal went down. Extra reports that Cyrus, who holds free online concerts in her backyard, just finished performing her new fiancé’s favorite song, “Lilic Wine” when the 22-year-old actor got down on one knee. She explains, “About 20 minutes after that song — it’s one of Liam’s favorite songs — he asked me to marry him…I had no idea! He was sitting there and I’m like, ‘He’s looking at me funny!’ And then I knew.”
News of their engagement came in June after Hemsworth proposed at the end of May. The actor and singer/actress have received the approval of both Miley’s parents, country singer Billy Ray and her mom Tish.
At the time Billy Ray took to Twitter to voice his approval writing, “All I ever hoped for as a Daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams. To find happiness...peace of mind ...and someday know... true love.”
