Once Upon a Time, ABC's modern-day take on fairy tales, will feature Colin O’Donoghue as Captain Hook. Originally brought on for a recurring role, O'Donoghue's role has been bumped up to series regular for the latter half of the season.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, ABC and Once Upon a Time producers like what the Captain Hook actor brings to the show. They recently signed the Irish actor to a recurring role but have upgraded him to a more prominent role before the character's first episode has aired.
Fans of the show will be introduced to Capt. Hook on October 21. The episode, titled "The Crocodile," will feature Hook's origin story. Once Upon a Time and O'Donoghue's portrayal of the character will be focused on the Captain's story before certain events take place, alluding to the Captain's replacement hook for a hand.
Last season, producers of the show had a similar story when Emilie de Ravin (Belle) was promoted to series regular after being brought on for a recurring role.
Once Upon a Time is currently in its second season. A preview for the second episode of the season can be found below.
