Oprah Winfrey - who recently interviewed Rihanna about her relationship with Chris Brown on Oprah’s Next Chapter - says that she is in no position to judge the “We Found Love” singer’s decision to rekindle her romance with former boyfriend Chris Brown.
“You know what I loved about that interview is that she came with a big, wide open heart. She was in the space of forgiveness. And that she learned a lesson, that she was repeating with Chris Brown exactly what she needed to learn from her father.” Brown assaulted Rihanna in 2009, leaving their relationship just as much broken and bruised as the Barbados singer. Ri Ri’s father, Ronald Fenty, also had a history of domestic abuse, which Rihanna says was his way of dealing with personal demons.
When Oprah was asked her opinion of Rihanna entering back into a scarred relationship, the talk show host said, “I think that if she is prepared to deal with that and is prepared to help him help himself then so be it. I have no judgment about it. That’s why I can sit there and have such a great time with her because I do all my interviews with no judgment whatsoever. If that’s how you choose to lead you life, that’s really okay.”
In the Aug. 19 interview special, Rihanna told Oprah, “I think [Chris] was the love of my life. He was my first love and I see that he loved me the same way…We love each other and we probably always will, and that’s not anything that we’re going to try to change.”
