Rosie O’Donnell couldn’t help but fall in love with reality television’s newest family and McIntyre, Georgia’s quirkiest characters – the Thompsons of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
In a sit-down interview with PEOPLE, the 50-year-old comedienne revealed that she loves the family and their TLC series. Rosie can even do a shockingly accurate impression of mother June.
Breaking into her Mama June character, O'Donnell impersonates the family matriarch cheering on her daughter, Alana, at a pageant. "I love 'Smoochie! Look at Mama, Smoochie! Look at the judges,' " she exclaims while blowing kisses.
"I love Mama June. I love Sugar Bear. I love Chubbs," says O’Donnell, referring to some of the family members by their self-designated nicknames. "I love 'em all."
Rosie praises Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’s 7-year-old star, Alana, and compares her to the iconic child star, Shirley Temple. "She has a presence and an intellect that goes way beyond her years," she says.
Rosie’s love exceeds that of a typical fan of the show. "I'd love to meet them," she says, "and buy them a house," insists O’Donnell. The Thompson’s current Georgia home actually has railroad tracks cutting through its backyard. Internet reports circulated last week, suggesting that network TLC offered the family a new home as a part of their contract negotiations, but June refused.
