Scott Stapp says T.I. saved his life

By Mallory Hatten,

Creed front man Scott Stapp says he credits his existence today to T.I., after the rapper reportedly saved his life after an attempt to committ suicide.

E! News reports that Stapp appeared on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live on Thursday to promote his new memoir Sinner’s Creed, where the rocker revealed a very dark past that almost cost him his life.

Stapp recalled to his fans about a time he checked into a hotel in Miami during a drug binge that left him wide awake for three straight days.

“I thought I was in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, in an asylum,” Stapp said. “I started hearing things, like the cops were coming through the door and I started thinking, ‘I can’t embarrass my family.’ So I was trying to climb over the balcony and fell 40 feet.”

According to PEOPLE, Stapp suffered a broken hip and nose, as well as a fractured skull. But that’s when rapper T.I. stepped in to save the singer’s life.

“He immediately took care of the situation and saved my life. As I’m lying on the ledge…blood fell to his feet and he looked up and he had an Alabama hat on. I said ‘Roll tide,’ and then he looked at me and put two and two together and really…he saved my life.”
