Agent Phil Coulson will make a comeback on ABC’s upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. series by Marvel, surprising after his characters fate in last summer’s The Avengers.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Clark Gregg, who has appeared in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and The Avengers, will appear in some manner in the new TV show that takes place in the same universe as the string of films.
Apparently Gregg was at Marvel’s panel at New York Comic-Con to promote the animated series Ultimate Spider-man, for which he voice acts.
“There was never going to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. show without Agent Phil Coulson!” head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige said.
ComingSoon.net says that Joss Whedon, who directed The Avengers, will co-write the pilot with his brother Jed Whedon.
Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. will be executive produced by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
No other casting news has come out yet and no air date has been set but the show is expected to hit ABC for the fall 2013 TV season.
