With Halloween around the corner, October is the month of thrills, candy, and fall movies. While some love the horror associated with Halloween movies, others aren’t fond of the fright this season can bring. Whether or not you’re a fan of Halloween thrillers, there are a variety of movies that everyone can enjoy this time of year. Here are some of the best-known family friendly Halloween movies to help get you and your family into the spooky season’s spirit.

10. Hocus Pocus is about three witches who were killed during the Salem Witch Trials. Year’s later on Halloween night, these three creepy ladies find a way to live an immortal life. To keep the witches from haunting the town’s trick or treaters, a boy who turned into a black cat must stop them.

9. This creepy movie is sure to give the chills to anyone who prefers laid back scary movies. Two ghost haunt their old house when a new family movies in. These harmless ghosts attempt to rid the humans from their house, but must call to the ghost Beetlejuice for help.

8. In the original 1995 Casper film, a friendly ghost befriends a girl who moves into a house being haunted by three evil ghosts. Her and her father attempt to find a way to live in peace in their new home.

7. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a tale by Tim Burton about a Halloweentown king who tries to recreate his town based on the traditions of Christmas. This animated film is spooky yet friendly enough for the whole family to enjoy.

6. Similar to The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline is the story about a young animated girl who finds herself stuck inside a parallel universe she did not know existed.

4. Twitches is another Disney Channel movie that takes you into the secret world of witches. When ordinary twins discover that they have secret powers, their Halloween journeys have just begun.

3. Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride follows a young man’s love for a woman that brings him on a journey through the underworld. When he is about to marry his lovely bride, he takes a trip down to the woods and finds himself married to a corpse in the underworld instead.
