Romantic comedy tackles age-old question in indie fashion

Save the Dance directed by Michael Mohan was screened at the Sundance Film Festival at the beginning of the year in January. Now the film has released its first trailer and is set to release November 8th on IFC Films VOD, iTunes, Amazon Streaming, SundanceNOW, PS3 Video Unlimited and XBOX Zune before making it’s way to theaters on December 14th.

The film is being called a romantic comedy even though the trailer suggests a more somber tone than most mainstream romantic comedies. Among Brie and Caplan the film stars Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), Martin Starr (Freaks and Geeks) and Geoffrey Arend (500 Days of Summer.)

Brie and Caplan play sisters with opposing views on marriage. Beth (Brie) is happily married with Andrew (Starr) character and her sister Sarah (Caplan) is fiercely independent stating that she is never getting married. However, Sarah is in a relationship with guitarist Kevin (Arend) who proposes to her in public after a concert. It’s safe to say that Sarah does not accept as she storms out of the concert.

Caplan breaks up with Arend and meets her rebound in the shape of Jonathan (Webber) character. The film follows Caplan as she delves into the issue of being single or deciding to take a chance on someone.
