The popular web series Broad City by Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer has a pilot order from Comedy Central.
Comedy Central head of original programming and production Kent Alterman announced Monday that the network ordered a pilot according to the Hollywood Reporter. The show was originally being developed at FX.
The show focuses on the everyday lives of two young New York City women played by Jacobson and Glazer. They deal with ordinary issues, but in a comedic way. The series has been likened to Lena Dunham's HBO show Girls.
Alterman declared: "Amy Poehler told me this would be a great show for us, and that's good enough for me."
Poehler (SNL) is one of the executive producers of the show, reports Deadline. Jacobson, Glazer, their manager Samantha Saifer, and Poehler’s manager, Dave Becky, will also executive produce the program. Tony Hernandez is a co-executive producer.
Broad City has been nominated for the ECNY’s Best Web Series award. Both Jacobson and Glazer have also been nominated separately.
Episodes from the web series can be viewed at the official website or the official YouTube channel.
