Amber Tamblyn heads to Broadway

Actress Amber Tamblyn who starred in Sisterhood of the traveling Pants and the TV series Joan of Arcadia is now heading to Broadway.

She will be starring in “The Miss Firecracker Contest” in spring 2013 according to Producers. The Denver Post reports the show is a comedy about a woman who thinks winning a local contest will restore her bad reputation. This is soon is interrupted when she gets an unexpected visit from her cousin.

Entertainment Weekly says the shows is directed by Tony Award winning actress Judith Ivey. Tamblyn is going to play Carnelle Scott, the main character.

The play was originally written by Beth Henley and debuted in 1984. It was an off Broadway show starring Holly Hunter.

In other news, Tamblyn will soon be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained which will be premiering on Christmas this year. The film is about a-slaved-turned bounty hunter goes out to rescue his wife from a Mississippi plantation.
