American couple names their baby girl 'Hashtag'

By Slater Katz,

Names are by no means as traditional as they once were. Names like Nancy and Beth have been replaced by more creative titles like Gweneth Paltrow’s baby Apple and Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy. But nothing tops a baby been named after a Twitter action.

Last Saturday around 10 pm, baby Hashtag Jameson was born to an American couple, according to Elite Daily.

Hashtag is not the only baby name trending worldwide; according to The Voice of Russia, ‘in February 2011 Jamal Ibrahim, an Egyptian, named his baby daughter Facebook and in May of that same year an Israeli couple named their newborn daughter Like, as in a Facebook "LIKE."’

Her parents obviously didn’t take into consideration the rise and fall factor accompanying every social media network. One-day hastagging will be a concept of the past and people will assume the girl is merely named after a key on a keyboard.

What’s next; Instagram, Kik, Snapchat, @? #whoknows.
