Avenged Sevenfold has come back after their latest album Nightmare from 2010, this time in digital form. Avenged Sevenfold has teamed up with the makers of Call of Duty to release their latest single “Carry On” for Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
The band noted that the song is, in a way, a step forward by taking a step back. In an interview with Artistdirect.com, singer M. Shadows noted, “When we got called about this song, we basically had three days to write it, a couple of days to record it, and we had to be in there doing motion capture. We were like, "Let's do something that's a bit of a throwback."
He then went on to say, “We wanted to make a song that punched you in the gut and left you there. We made an up-tempo song with some chord modulations and fun chorus tricks. We had a great time doing it. We wanted to make an uplifting song that was fun and entertaining at the end of the game.” The band did just that.
The song “Carry On” is exciting and really powerful, it really fits along with the game perfectly. It also proves the impressive musical abilities that Avenged Sevenfold is capable of.
This isn’t the first time Avenged Sevenfold has made music for this franchise, however. Banana 101.5 Radio noted in 2011, the band released another single "Not Ready To Die" for the Call of Duty: Black Ops expansion game Call of the Dead.
This is another step along the way for Avenged Sevenfold, currently working on new music to eventually hit the recording studio once again. Whenever this band comes out with new music, it’s very exciting stuff, so what they come out with next should be highly anticipated. As for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, it is available in stores. With the tremendous following of the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops II will certainly be worth getting.
