The list of directors who may get to direct Star Wars Episode VII gets shorter every day with Brad Bird now saying that he will not be helming the sequel.
According to IGN, Bird is working on another science fiction project but he will not direct the new Star Wars.
The director confirmed this on his Twitter account, where he responded to fans' questions about his next project. When he teased a science fiction project, the conversation immediately became about Star Wars.
In a series of Tweets responding to fans he said “Not doing Star Wars,” “Nope. A science fiction film. Not Star Wars,” “It’s not Episode VII” and “the science fiction film I AM doing is gonna be cool.” Touchy subject?
“@clarkgoble: tell me your next one is the new Star Wars!”Nope. A science fiction film. Not Star Wars.

He later Tweeted, “That said, Michael Arndt is a fantastic writer and Kathy Kennedy is a brilliant producer. I will be first in line to see the new STAR WARS.” Nice save.
He joins J.J. Abrams, Jon Favreau and others who have said they will not be directing the movie.
Bird’s credits include The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and last year’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
Well here’s to another great director we can scratch off the list.
Star Wars Episode VII is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015.
