Brett Dalton added to Marvel's ‘SHIELD’ pilot

By Meaghan Fleming,

Joss Whedon’s upcoming Marvel ABC show, S.H.I.E.L.D., confirmed on Tuesday Brett Dalton is joining the cast.

TV Line confirmed Dalton will be playing Agent Grant in the upcoming pilot. He is known for being highly skilled but has poor people skills.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is a highly anticipated show that focuses on the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an acronym for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. S.H.I.E.L.D. is a secret intelligence group that employs highly trained people to help protect the world.

Dalton is the fifth person to be cast for the show, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Ming-Na (ER), will be portraying Agent Melinda May, while Clark Gregg (The Avengers) is reprising his role as fan favorite Agent Phil Coulson. Elizabeth Henstridge (The Thompsons) is playing Agent Gemma Simmons, while Ian De Caesteckeras (Young James Herriot) is playing Agent Leo Fitz.

Dalton has few acting credits to his name so far, but has had guest spots on both Army Wives and Blue Bloods. He also has a role as Robert Todd Lincoln in National Geographic Channel’s upcoming TV movie, Killing Lincoln.

Whedon, his brother Jed Whedon and Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen are all working on the pilot. The three wrote hit web series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog together. Whedon may also be directing the pilot, depending on his schedule.
