Actress Brooke Shields is enduring a tragic loss as her mother Teri has died at the age of 79.
E! News reports that the mother and manager passed last week after a long battle with dementia.
According to the report, Brooke and her mother costarred together in both Wanda Nevada, Endless Love as well as Backstreet Dreams. Teri acted as her daughters manager for a lengthy amount of times, including when 11-year-old Brooke started as a child prostitute in Pretty Baby; Teri received a series of backlash for allowing her daughter to take on such an adult role.
Additionally, Teri was also accused of exploiting her daughter when Brooke began advertising for Calvin Klein jeans at the age of 15.
The two began their journey into the spotlight when Brooke was just 11 months old where Teri landed her an ad for Ivory soap, New York Times reports.
Teri also defended her actions in her daughters rise to fame, calling viewers “jealous” and that perhaps their child isn’t sexy.
The two parted ways professionally in 1995.
“My mother was an enormous part of my life and of who I am today…I loved her, laughed with her, and respected her. And although she had her share of struggles, she was my mom," Brooke said according to People.
