Channing Tatum has become one of the hottest stars in Hollywood this year, thanks to three box office successes. It should be no surprise that he could be picked as People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2012. While the magazine hasn’t made it official yet, one report suggests that Tatum will be named Bradley Cooper’s successor to the title.
On Monday, Gossip Cop reported that the magazine will reveal Tatum as the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ in its issue next week. Tatum was mentioned in People’s past Sexiest Man Alive issues, but has yet to win the top prize.
People told the site, “We never comment on who the Sexiest Man Alive is until the issue is revealed.”
Tatum scored three big box office wins this year, starting with The Vow with Rachel McAdams. He then starred in the comedy 21 Jump Street with Jonah Hill. This summer, he appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s male stripper film Magic Mike.
As for Cooper, who won the nod last year despite many calling for Ryan Gosling, he knows who he thinks should be the next Sexiest Man Alive. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cooper first suggested Robert De Niro, but then went with Hangover co-star Zach Galifianakis.
“He should be [the next Sexiest Man Alive],” the Silver Linings Playbook star said of Galifianakis. “He's very sexy.”
Fans of the 32-year-old Tatum will have to wait only a few more days for the new issue of People to find out if their favorite star did win the title. The magazine’s next issue is out on Nov. 14.
