Chevy Chase to star in Old Navy ads after 'Community' exit

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Chevy Chase announced his departure from NBC’s Community last week and now the actor is moving from sitcom to commercial as he will appear in a series of Old Navy commercial’s.

New York Post reports that the 69-year-old actor will take on his former beloved character Clark Griswold from the 1980’s hit National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation in the new ads.

In addition to Chase’s character, Beverly D’Angelo and Juliette Lewis, who played Ellen and Audry, will also return for the holiday Old Navy ads.

As we previously reported Chase opted to leave Community after years of struggles with the show’s creators.

Chase previously defended his reasons for staying on the show saying, “I sort of just hung around because I have three daughters and a wife, and I figured I might as well make some bread, every week, so I can take care of them in the way they want.”

His character will appear in a majority of episodes as the show’s fourth season has already begun filming, there are however, a certain amount of episodes that Chase will be noticeably absent from. It is uncertain how they will write in Chase’s exit from the show.
