Christina Aguilera dropped her newest album, Lotus, Tuesday, and The Voice actress is revealing what inspired her for the new album, as well as some pointers for new Voice coaches Shakira and Usher.
Aguilera spoke to Us Weekly about her highly anticipated album, explaining that the inspiration for Lotus stemmed from “all I've been through.” The 31-year-old starlet divorced husband Jordon Bratman in 2010.
She explains that the album has plenty of great tracks, including her duet for Voice co-judge Cee Lo Green, but the fun doesn’t stop there. “There are a few that I know people are going to really connect to. Many of my past albums had clear-cut themes and styles, but with this album, I really just put songs on the record that felt good. I can't wait for my fans to hear them!”
Aguilera and Green are taking a break from the spring season of The Voice as the two want to focus on promoting their music. Usher and Shakira will be taking their place for the time being, so what sort of advice does the “Candyman” singer have to pass on to her replacement judges?
“The blind audition process can be nerve-wracking. But I know they'll have a blast!”
