‘The Colbert Report' will have 'Hobbit' week

By Meaghan Fleming,

Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report is having a themed week of interviews centering on the upcoming The Hobbit film, based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s book of the same name.

Entertainment Weekly reports the show will feature four Hobbit-themed episodes from December 3 to December 6.

Actor Ian McKellan (Gandalf) will appear on December 3, while Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins) will be on the next night. Director Peter Jackson will be on December 5 and finally, Andy Serkis (Gollum) will end the week on Thursday night’s episode.

“Elen sila lumenn‘ omentielvo… I mean that sincerely,” host Stephen Colbert said in a statement. The Elvish translation is “A star shines upon the hour of our meeting.”

Colbert is a huge Tolkien fan and has often discussed his excitement for the upcoming Hobbit movies. He is also uses Tolkien references on the show sometimes.

Colbert is rumored to have a cameo in one of The Hobbit films, as we previously reported. Jackson would not confirm or deny said cameo. He did praise Colbert’s love of Tolkien saying: “I have never met a bigger Tolkien geek in my life.”

The Colbert Report airs Monday-Thursday nights at 11:30 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released in theaters on December 14.
