‘Covert Affairs’ Recap: Lady Stardust

Annie picks up the cell phone and it’s Khalid on the other line. He’s holding Eyal hostage against her and the only way for Eyal to be released is for Annie to hand over a list of the CIA assets in his father’s company. Not knowing what to do, Annie gives Auggie a call, and is surprised to see Auggie arrive in person. The two successfully work with one another in getting Eyal out of harm’s way, but a phone call from Joan and Arthur causes Annie to go solo for a brief period.

Annie sneaks away from Eyal and Auggie and makes her way to Khalid’s residence. Instead of killing him as she believed she was ordered to do, Annie reveals how Megan’s death has to do with his father. This sets the scene for Khalid to go against his father, and with that Annie leaves. She reunites with Eyal and Auggie and the trio leaves for their separate destinations. Auggie and Annie are returning to D.C., but Eyal plans to retire in Greece for the time being. He asks Annie to leave with him, but she kindly declines. After returning to the States, there’s a ceremony held in Jai’s honor, where Henry (Jai’s father) makes his first appearance out of jail.

Shortly after the ceremony, Annie is seen meeting Henry at the same diner of Jai’s incident. Annie immediately shoots Henry’s proposal of collaboration down, but quickly changes her mind after seeing a secret file. Later that evening as she is reading the contents of the file, Auggie makes a surprise visit, claiming he has something to tell her. The episode ends with the two kissing.

Final Thoughts: Season 3 ends on a high note as old friends depart and new alliances are made. Not to mention a relationship that many have been dying to see happen. Was anyone else surprised at the kiss scene that occurred between Auggie and Annie in the season finale? I sure was not since I felt that the writers have been trying to build up this relationship since Parker got out of the picture. The episode overall was intense and I’m dying to know what Henry (Jai’s father) has enlisted Annie for. Could it possibly have to do with Arthur and Joan? Speculate for next season here. Season 4 should start airing July 2013.
