‘Covert Affairs’ Recap: Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)

By Freda Eang,

Political fallout arises as the misled intelligence from last week follows our characters. Arthur is called before the Senate to explain his actions and while this is happening Joan orders Annie to immediately head to the farm. Annie reluctantly leaves for the farm, but is interrupted on her path when she realizes Eyal is tailing her.

Eyal tells Annie that he has information that Khalid is coming for Megan, causing Annie to rush over to the safe house. Upon arrival, Megan is nowhere to be found. Annie looks at the surveillance camera for clues, where she discovers that the ex-CIA was in the neighborhood. The two find their way to the ex-CIA brother’s home, where they were able to find out what he did with Megan. Apparently, all he did was give her a plane ticket to meet Khalid, not holding her hostage or anything.

As Annie and Eyal head out in search of the ex-CIA, Auggie calls and informs her of what the Mossad agency just told Joan. Eyal has gone rogue and the photographs from the false intelligence were all his doing, not the agency. Still finding it hard to believe, Annie tries to digest the information she just learned. She immediately stops the car to ask Eyal and to her dismay, he confirms that it was him. We realize at the end of the episode, Eyal was lying to Annie because he was covering the Mossad agency. He plans to quit after the current mission.

The episode concludes with Joan telling Arthur she needs to take a break from work for a few days and Megan telling Khalid about Annie. Also, Jai’s father was said to be released from jail earlier than planned.

Final Thoughts: From the interest of Khalid in who from the CIA reached out to Megan, it looks like Annie is going to have trouble coming her way next week. Khalid’s men are definitely going to be hot on her trail and I’m hoping Eyal will be there to help. I love the fact that Annie trusts Eyal so much and it’s because of this trust that Eyal feels bad for using Annie in the grand scheme of things. As for Auggie, I wonder if he’ll take the offer to leave for awhile. He still has not found time to tell Annie about what he wanted to say to her when she was in prison. Like I said before, it’s probably going to happen in the season finale. Also, I wonder why Jai’s father is getting out of jail early. Predictions anyone?

Covert Affairs currently airs Tuesdays at 10pm on USA.
