The CW orders full season of ‘Beauty and the Beast’

By Meaghan Fleming,

The CW announced Friday they have ordered a full season of the freshman crime drama, Beauty and the Beast.

According to the Hollywood Reporter the CW ordered a full season of the drama.

So far, the show is not as popular as CW’s Arrow, Deadline reports, but Thursday’s episode rose 9 percent in the 18-34 demographic. The episode also showed a rise in the 18-49 demographic. Beauty and the Beast has an average of 2.4 million viewers.

The hour-long drama focuses on Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) as Catherine Chandler, and features Jay Ryan (Terra Nova) as Vincent Keller. The show is loosely based on the 1980s series of the same name.

Kreuk spoke to Access Hollywood Thursday and said of Catherine and Vincent, “There’s gonna be some beautifully romantic moments, there’s going to be attempts at romantic moments that are foiled by drama. The two of them [are] very honest with each other very quickly about how they feel, but they’re both so uncomfortable with all of it – especially him.”

The CW also ordered a full season of Arrow, as we previously reported. The show is based on DC’s Green Arrow character and stars Stephen Amell (Hung).

The last new show of the season, Emily Owens M.D. received an order for new scripts, but it is unknown if it will be picked up for a full season.

Beauty and the Beast airs on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
