There’s been a lot of buzz that Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Cheryl Burke could become the next star of ABC’s The Bachelorette.
After Monday’s DWTS: All Stars show, Burke confirmed that she had been in discussions with network executives about it.
“I did interview with the execs and we’ll see what happens in the future,” she told EW. “It’s not a firm offer. It hasn’t been an offer but if they offer it to me, I would love to do it.”
“It sounds crazy but I think I’m just so married to my work and I rarely meet new people. I’ve been around the same people for the last six years. I have maybe a month and a half of down time and all I want to do during that time is be with my family and sleep so it’s hard for me to be introduced to guys,” Burke went on to explain.
“I make the wrong choices. I dated a couple of guys over the summer and it turned out all bad so I figure if someone were to make the choice for me, then maybe I would have a better chance. I would make a choice…out of a pool of men, hopefully there would be one special person.”
Burke has also confirmed the discussions to E! News, saying she’s looking into other projects beyond DWTS, not limiting herself to just The Bachelorette.
“I have met with the producers of The Bachelorette and I also have met with ABC producers and development executives, just to develop other shows,” she said.
"I realize that Dancing won't be on air forever. I'm taking this opportunity now to develop shows. I met with different high-powered producers, companies and networks about possibly doing new shows, and The Bachelorette happened to be one of them,” she also said.
