‘Dancing with the Stars’ finale draws season-high ratings, ABC splits Tuesday with CBS

By Daniel S Levine,

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars didn’t have a great season ratings-wise, even with the added attraction of All-Stars returning for another shot at the mirror ball trophy. The season finale earned season high numbers, but it still failed to do better than last season. ABC split the night with CBS, earning the best 18-49 rating.

CBS came out on top in viewers, drawing 14.4 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating. NCIS drew 19.57 million viewers and a 3.5 18-49 rating, reports HItFix. That was followed by NCIS: LA with 14.26 million viewers and a 2.9 18-49 rating, while Vegas took a hit, drawing 9.42 million viewers and a 1.6 key demo rating.

ABC followed with 13.85 million viewers and a 2.8 18-49 rating, just edging out CBS. How The Grinch Stole Christmas kicked off the night with 8.38 million viewers and a 2.4 18-49 rating, while Shrek the Halls drew 8.44 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two-hour DWTS finale drew a 3.0 18-49 rating, a 33 percent jump from last week’s results show. However, that was a 27 percent drop from last year’s fall finale and a 6 percent drop from the last spring finale this year. The first had had 16.09 million viewers, while 17.06 million saw Melissa Rycroft win in the second hour.

NBC had just over 7 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating. The Voice had 11.39 million viewers and a 3.8 18-49 rating, the best on the night. Go On had 6.33 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating, while The New Normal had 4.07 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. Parenthood had 4.43 million viewers and a 1.8 key demo rating.

Fox had just 3.45 million viewers and a 1.7 18-49 rating for its comedies. Raising Hope had 3.88 million viewers and a 1.7 18-49 rating, while Ben & Kate earned just under 3 million viewers and a 1.4 18-49 rating. Both shows were up from last week. New Girl had 4.18 million viewers and a 2.3 18-49 rating. The Mindy Project had 2.8 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating.

Over at The CW, Hart of Dixie was steady with 1.34 million viewers and a 0.5 18-49 rating. Emily Owens MD dropped to just over 1 million viewers and a 0.3 18-49 rating.
