Race car driver Danica Patrick told her fans on Facebook that she and husband Paul Hospenthal are divorcing after seven years of marriage.
“I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward.”
According to People, they became engaged on Thanksgiving Day in 2004 and married in 2005. They did not have any children.
Patrick was an IndyCar driver before transitioning to NASCAR. She became the first female winner of the Indy Japan 300 and the highest she finished in the Indianapolis 500 was third in 2009. She made her NASCAR debut in February.
This week, she won the most popular driver award in the NASCAR nationwide series, reports Sportingnews.
Patrick will also star in GoDaddy.com’s Super Bowl commercials again this year.
