Court documents reveal that country star, Deana Carter, has legally filed for divorce from her husband, Brandon Malone. The two married back in 2009, but have been living separately for over a year.
According to The Associated Press, the Nashville native filed her petition on Tuesday in Los Angeles, despite having unofficially separated in August of 2011.
ET Online confirmed the split, reporting that the couple cited “Irreconcilable Differences” as the reason behind their separation. The court documents also revealed that Carter is seeking spousal support.
The pair married in Malibu on October 3, 2009, but they do not have any children together. The documents do not indicate how the couple’s assets will be divided.
The country singer has enjoyed success with her hit songs, “Strawberry Wine” and “We Danced Anyway,” off of her 1996 album, Did I Shave My Legs For This?.
