After sustaining an injury, professional dancer Derek Hough had to sit out during Monday’s taping of Dancing with the Stars: All Stars while his partner Shawn Johnson danced with fill-in Mark Ballas.
Hough strained an already existing neck injury during the October 30 taping of the show, so he was forced to cheer on his partner from the sidelines.
He caught up with Us Weekly after the show, however, and said, “It's discomfort. The pain will be up and down.”
He added, “I had a proper diagnosis this morning and I am going to have to have surgery on it eventually. The bone is just rubbing on the nerve. But you know, I'm not going to do any more damage to it and I'm going to keep going and keep going strong."
Hough also said he is hoping he’s “fine to dance next week.”
Of his partner’s knee injuries stemming from her Olympic days, Hough says they have that in common. "We have icing parties!" he joked "She ices her knee while I ice my neck."
Check out our recap of the show and find out how Ballas and Johnson did without Hough.
