More details continue to arise in the sex scandal circulating around the voice of Elmo, Kevin Clash, and his alleged underage lover.
Monday, reports surfaced stating that 52-year-old Clash had improper relations with a teenage boy. Clash refuted those claims, insisting that nothing happened until the unidentified man was of age.
Since news broke, Clash has taken a leave of absence from the Sesame Street Workshop and released a statement saying, “I am a gay man. I have never been ashamed of this or tried to hide it, but felt it was a personal and private matter.”
According to TMZ, Clash sent e-mails to the accuser in 2010, apologizing for constantly discussing sex with him. In the e-mails he also promised to make all of his “dreams come true.”
He writes, "I'm sorry that I keep talking about sex with you, its driving me insane. I want you to know that I love you and I will never hurt you. I'm here to protect you and make sure your dreams come true."
Clash continued, "I'll have my assistant book a ticket for you to come to NY and we can talk about this in person."
Clash stands firm that the unidentified man was of adult age before engaging in sexual acts and insists he will fight to prove his innocence.
