The Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks has welcomed her second child.
Banks and her husband Max Handelman welcomed baby boy Magnus Mitchell Handelman via a gestational surrogate, joining 1-year-old brother Felix.
On her website, Banks announced “It’s a boy!”
She explains “Like Felix, Magnus was born via gestational surrogate. This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude, and established a relationship that will last a lifetime.”
She added, “I am also so very thankful to our family and friends for their support throughout this process, as well as the Center for Surrogate Parenting for helping make all this possible.”
Banks has discussed her difficulty conceiving a child on her own, telling the February issue of Lucky magazine “It was a womb issue for me. Embryos wouldn't implant.”
She continued, “But our surrogate is so extraordinary, and she's still in our lives. She's like an auntie,” The Daily Mail reports.
Banks ended her post, saying “I now turn my attention to managing two boys under two. For which I am thankful. And all their poop. For which I am less thankful.”
