Elmo accuser Sheldon Stephens takes back recanting story, says he felt pressured

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Sheldon Stephens, the man who accused Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash of having a sexual relationship with him when he was just 16-year-old, wishes to retract his recant statement and forgo his $125,000 to tell the truth.

The confusing saga began last week when Stephens came forward claiming that Clash had a sexual relationship with him while he was underage. Clash admitted the relationship but insisted that Stephens was of age when the relationship took place.

Shortly thereafter, compromising e-mails surfaced which were sent from Clash to Stephens. However, the e-mails which discussed the relationship were from 2010 -- making Stephens of age.

Hours later, Stephens recanted the story and was reportedly paid $125K to change his story. And now he wants out and doesn’t mind that it will cost him his $125,000 statement.

TMZ reports that Stephens felt “pressured” into signing and recanting his story and is telling his lawyers that he wants to forfeit his settlement to get the truth out there and clear his name.

He insists that his original story is true. Who do you believe?
