Florence + The Machine taking a hiatus?

Florence Welch ready for a break

Florence + the Machine front woman Florence Welch has said that she needs a break. After the massive success and multiple tours, the singer wants to take time out of work to rekindle her musical inspiration.

According to The Evening Standard, Welch is ready to put the machine into idle as she takes a break to enjoy normal life.

“I’ve been on tour since I was 21. I need a break and to have the chance to do normal things, like go to the supermarket and hang out with my friends,” the 26-year-old said.

“I’ve only just moved out of my mum’s house, so I’d like to settle into my new place and start getting inspired again. If I started writing songs now, all they’d be about is tour buses and hotel rooms.”

According to her close friend, Sophie Hart-Walsh, Welch may take time out of song writing to draft a musical.

"We always used to write songs about our lives and sing them to each other. We always said we should make them into a musical.” Walsh said. "It would be amazing to get it into the West End. That’s obviously the dream goal.”

In addition to planning a musical, Welch has also been rumored to be getting cozy with actor Sean Penn, according to the Daily Mail. The two met at a Gucci Art charity event in Los Angeles.

"Sean was flirting with her all evening and they got along like a house on fire," a party attendee told the Mail.
