The show finally goes back to some surprise backstabbing and betrayals since coming back on air this season. Took the writers long enough to get the ball rolling for the final season. With the Sage and Steven storyline in the background, Blair’s fashion line and Ivy’s vendetta to take Lily down takes center stage. The new “it” line for Constance’s students turn out to be a success for Blair and there’s much to celebrate with her rekindled friendship with Serena as well. Too bad Chuck fails this week in his own mission to get rid of Bart forever, since Lily tossed the microfilms into the fire place. Not to mention that Lily disowned him as a son and wants nothing to do with him. What was the best night for Blair turns out to be a living hell for Chuck. Their reunion as a couple is at a still at this point.
Other than Nate forced to betray Chuck in order to save the Spectator, what shocked me the most has to be Ivy’s relationship with William and Dan using Serena for his article writing. I really thought Ivy had been keeping in contact with Lola via phone, but as it turns out it was all William behind the planning. Ivy’s failure to bring Lily down and William’s facial expression at the closure of the episode makes me wonder if he’s simply using Ivy as a pawn. Manipulation seems like a key trade mark of the Upper-East Siders this week, especially for Lonely Boy Dan.
Dan was able to make amends with Chuck, Nate, and Rufus this week and it seemed like everything was going well with Serena, but his quick phone call with Georgina shows that he’s playing Serena hard. In order to work on his Serena article, it looks like Dan will stop at nothing. Whatever happened to the sweet innocent Dan from Brooklyn, I guess he’s far gone. Only 3 more episodes till the series end. Any predictions of how Jenny, Eric, and Juliet will make an appearance or on the identity of Gossip Girl?
Gossip Girl airs Mondays at 9pm on the CW.
