Halle Berry has lost her bitter custody battle with former boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, the father of her 4-year-old daughter Nahla. The Oscar winner had hoped to permanently move Nahla to France, but a judge has denied that request.
According to TMZ, Berry had hoped to move to France with Nahla and live in Paris with her fiance, Olivier Martinez.
Berry claimed that the Los Angeles paparazzi scene was not safe for Nahla, but the judge did not buy it. TMZ notes that exact details of the ruling were not released, but it is clear that Berry was not happy about it. She never hoped to keep Aubry out of Nahla’s life, though.
Radar Online notes that the custody battle between Berry and Aubry had been going on for over a year. The fight took a new twist in January, when Berry’s nanny accused Aubry of attacking her while she held Nahla. There were also reports that Nahla herself was afraid of Aubry.
Radar Online notes that there was an independent child custody report that later found that Aubry and Nahla do have a meaningful relationship and that he still plays a key role in her life.
Berry, who recently starred in Cloud Atlas, and Aubry were together for five years before splitting in 2010.
