Two of Hollywood’s hottest men, Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, are set to star in the highly anticipated musical film, Les Miserables, but outside the film the men have become close friends and now Jackman is thanking Crowe for helping him land one of his biggest roles- Wolverine form the X-Men franchise.
"Russell and I actually became very close friends," Jackman tells Entertainment Weekly. "We were good friends before. We knew each other a lot. And Russell has given me advice several times at key moments in my life that helped with my career. I also owe him because two of the biggest roles I've ever had in my life, he turned down - and suggested me for them."
Jackman explained, "On X-Men, he was Bryan Singer's first choice for Wolverine, and he mentioned me also for Australia…He really is incredibly smart, and generous. It was a joy to work with him. The whole cast it was a great sense of ensemble. We all had that feeling it was going to take everything."
Jackman and Crowe will appear alongside Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried in the already widely accepted film. During the film's first screening the crowd opted for a standing ovation to show their extreme pleasure for the film.
As previously reported, director Tom Hooper praised Jackman saying, "If Hugh Jackman didn't exist, I don't think I would have done the film."
