Aurora, Colorado murderer James Holmes had two failed attempts at suicide in jail last week.
TMZ reports that Holmes ran head first into his jail cell wall Tuesday as well as attempted to crack his skull open by falling backward off of his bed. He failed both times at trying to kill himself, but was transported to the hospital. He has since been released and his injuries were not life-threatening.
In July, Holmes entered an Aurora, CO movie theater and opened fire on the audience who were awaiting the midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. During the tragic event, 12 people lost their lives and over 50 were injured.
Holmes also set up explosives in his apartment in order to kill officers responding as well as everyone in the complex. Police safely detonated the bombs and no additional lives were lost.
He was charged with 24 counts of first degree murder, 2 counts for each of the victims killed.
After the devastating events were revealed, more details surfaced of Holmes sending a notebook to a University of Colorado psychiatrist, which detailed his plan to open fire on the awaiting crowd.
