The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) announced Tuesday they are awarding Jennifer Lawrence their award for Outstanding Performer of the Year.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence, 22, will be honored for her performances in the hit first movie of the Hunger Games franchise and her recently released film, Silver Linings Playbook.
SBIFF executive director Roger Durling released a statement and discussed Lawrence’s acting talent.
"Ms. Lawrence impressed us earlier this year in The Hunger Games, but has now left us moonstruck with her career-defining performance in Silver Lining Playbook – recalling classic turns by Lombard, Stanwyck and Colbert,” said Durling. “Naming her our Outstanding Performer of the Year is an understatement."
Lawrence became a household name after starring as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. At age 20, she was the second-youngest person to be nominated for an Oscar for best actress for her work in the indie film, Winter’s Bone.
The SBIFF is awarding the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film to Robert De Niro and the Modern Master Award to Ben Affleck, reports Yahoo! Movies.
The 28th Santa Barbara International Film Festival will run January 24 through February 3.
