Jennifer Lawrence talks body image: ‘In Hollywood, I’m obese’

By Daniel S Levine,

Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence has drawn plenty of attention for her roles and was already nominated for an Oscar. Her looks have also drawn praise and few would ever call her “fat.” Well, except herself.

“In Hollywood, I'm obese,” the stunning actress jokingly told Elle, reports E! News. “I'm considered a fat actress.”

She continues, “I'm Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.”

Lawrence, who stars in the acclaimed Silver Linings Playbook, also discussed if she would ever diet for a role.

“I’m never going to starve myself for a part,” she said. “I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner. That’s something I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong- not thin and underfed.”

She also talked about her boyfriend, actor Nicholas Hoult, calling him her “best friend” as well. “He’s my favorite person to be around and makes me laugh harder than anybody,” she said. “We can eat Cheetos and watch beach volleyball and we turn into two perverted Homer Simpsons, like, ‘Oh, she’s got a nice ass.’ I never thought we’d have such different opinions on asses.”

The 22-year-old has also become known for giving great interviews, notes The Huffington Post. She fears that not having a filter could get her in trouble some day, but she’s optimistic that, as she grows older, she’ll “have control over my mouth.”

“One day, I’m going to grow up … When we leave, I’m going to have a knot in my stomach. I’m going to be like, ‘Oh, did I say something wrong? I’m going to get in trouble!’”

Lawrence is on the cover of Elle’s December issue. Silver Linings Playbook hits theaters on Nov. 21.
