The holiday weekend is coming to a close, but over the past few days there hasn’t been a shortage of tweets and photos from celebrities who were sharing their holiday experiances with fans.
Katy Perry hasn’t been tweeting too much lately, but on Thanksgiving she shared a sweet photo with her grandmother. The 28-year-old “Wide Awake” singer headed home to Santa Barbara to spend time with family and meet her cousin’s new baby girl over the long Thanksgiving weekend.
“Hope everyone is having a lovely Tday. Most thankful for my friends & family & welcoming Kai to the group, 1st baby in 24 yrs!,” she tweeted.
It’s unclear whether the “Part of Me” singer brought her current boyfriend John Mayer home for Thanksgiving dinner, but she had recently brought him to her hometown for a “romantic time together,” according to E! News
Perry recently told Sugarscape that when she heads home for the holidays, the interest in her personal life, who she’s dating, and any other rumors, are put aside so she can enjoy family time. Family is more important than anything around the holidays.
“I try and always carve out the holiday time for my family and make an event of it,” she told the website, explaining her family’s typical holiday. “We will all sit around each other and it’s funny because you can tell we are family. We all have the same sarcastic sense of humor.”
Katy may be the celebrity in the family, but this year Katy suspected the new addition to the family, baby Kai, would be the star.
“This year is going to be a little different because my cousin is having a baby girl right before Thanksgiving so it will be an addition to our family which hasn’t happened for over 20 years. All eyes will be on that little baby girl. She’s going to be adorable.”
This year, the holidays are a happier time for Perry. Last year she was going through a troubled time with then-husband Russell Brand, who filed for divorce on December 30, 2011.
