The unidentified man who caused a slew of bad press and unneeded attention to Sesame Street puppeteer, Kevin Clash, has been identified as 24-year-old Sheldon Stephens, an aspiring model with a criminal past.
According to The Smoking Gun, Sheldon is the man who only days ago reported that Clash engaged in sexual relations with him when he was only 16-years-old, causing Clash to take a leave of absence from his job.
Stephens was previously arrested for robbing $250,000 worth of jewelry at knifepoint from a music manager.
When, where and how Stephens and Clash began their relationship, is unclear. However, a source close to Stephens said that he "attracts these high-powered men” and that as a model he wanted to be a “God fearing-guy” and “not just a pretty boy.”
As the allegations continued, Clash confirmed that he had a relationship with Sheldon, but insisted the relationship only began after he was age. In a statement released to People, the 52-year-old puppeteer insisted he was never out to hide his sexuality noting that he was an openly gay man. He maintained that despite his sexuality, he never had inappropriate sexual encounters with his accuser when Stephens was underage.
Stephens recanted his statements Tuesday.
