Larry Birkhead stands behind decision to allow Danielynn to model, calls it a tribute to Anna Nicole Smith

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Reports surfaced Monday that the 6-year-old daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead will make her modeling debut for the children’s Guess ad; however not everyone is looking at young Danielynn’s modeling career in a positive light.

According to People, Birkhead is aware of the firestorm that could soon surround him as he lets his young daughter pose for the popular brand which once saw the face of Anna Nicole.

He explained his decision to allow Danielynn to model on Good Morning America, “Dannielynn has always looked up to her mom's image and … I think that this is kind of Dannielynn's way of paying tribute to her mom in her own special way.”

“To see her mom's picture next to hers as a Guess girl and say, 'Hey, I was a Guess Kids girl, my mommy was a Guess girl,' that might be her only connection with her mom," he continued.

Danielynn never had the opportunity to know her iconic mother as she was only 5 months old when Smith died tragically of a drug overdose in 2007.

Despite what critics may think, Birkhead notes that his main goal is raise Danielynn as a regular kid. "My goal for her is for her to be a child and just do what all kids do,” adding that she “only models for fun.”

Viewers can expect to see the ads in January 2013 as they are set to debut on billboards, buses and in magazines.
