Lil Wayne is preparing to release another album, just before he retires from the music business. He’s ready to move on and start a skateboarding career, he recently told MTV. He also discussed his recent health scare, revealing that he is on seizure medication.
The rapper, who is now 30, has been in the business for 19 years and is ready to put it aside. When explaining why I Am Not a Human Being II has that title instead of Carter V, he told MTV News, “Because I know y'all want me around for a little bit, and Carter V is my last album.” He added, “Man, I've been rappin' since I was 8 years old. I'm 30 now, man. That's a long time, man.”
Lil Wayne’s outside interests are well-known. He loves skateboarding and has his TrukFit clothing line. “When I love to do something, I'm fully focused on it and it only. And music sometimes is not that 'it,'” he explained.
Back in August, he said something similar, telling a radio show that rapping will take a “backseat” to his other interests.
“I signed my contract at 11, I went platinum at 14. I'm 30 now. Thank God I haven't put out an album that hasn't went platinum,” he told MTV. “To just keep it goin' like that, I think not only am I being greedy, I'm fooling myself to think that it will continue to be that great.”
Lil Wayne also revealed to MTV that his is taking his recent health scare very seriously, noting that he is taking seizure medication. “I don't want y'all to think I'm on nothing, man. I'm on seizure medicine, man, that's all.”
He added, “They said I gotta drink four water bottles a day, that's what the doctors say...I just came from the doctor. I ain't drinking four water bottles, but everything's good.”
I Am Not a Human Being II will be out on Feb. 19. He recently released the music video for “No Worries,” which premiered on MTV.
