While Lindsay Lohan’s Good Morning America interview made headlines Friday because of her reaction to the news that she has a 17-year-old half-sister, she also revealed how exactly she managed to get the part of Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Lohan admitted that as soon as she heard about the project, she knew she had to be in it, no matter what.
“I had seen that they were going to be making a movie and I got the producer's number and started harassing [him],” she told GMA’s Amy Robach. “I didn't even care if my agents were going to do it or not, I just did it myself too. Because, I was like, ‘No one else is going to play this role, I have to do this.’”
Lohan also discussed the difficulty of playing such an iconic film star. “It's really nerve-wracking to play someone that's such an incredible force, and a wonderful woman, so I was kind of nervous to see what people would think of it.”
She also said that she can relate to Taylor, who also drew media attention for her every move.
Liz & Dick airs on Lifetime on Nov. 25 and it is already being hit hard by critics. The Hollywood Reporter called it “half train wreck, half SNL skit” and “spectacularly bad.” The New York Daily News gave it two stars.
During Friday’s GMA interview, Lohan also claimed that she hadn’t heard about Ashley Horn, the 17-year-old daughter her father had with another woman while he was still married to Dina Lohan.
“I didn’t even hear that, so thanks for the news,” Lohan said.
