Journalist Lisa Ling has shown incredible acts of bravery over the span of her career, including battling child traffickers and fighting for her sister’s life, who was captured and held hostage in North Korea in 2009, among other ventures. But the one thing that scares Ling more than anything is becoming a mom.
People caught up with the expecting momma at the Women’s Media Center’s 2012 Women’s Media Awards, where she was honored alongside her sister Laura.
“I’m finally going down this road and it’s scary,” Ling admitted. “I’m really excited but more nervous than anything.”
The 39-year-old is six months pregnant with her first child, a baby girl.
According to Us Magazine, Ling is expecting her daughter with husband Paul Song, a physician and biotech firm president whom she married in 2007.
Ling first confirmed the news on Anderson Live, revealing, “I was trying to keep it quiet for a long time, but I’m starting to get to the point where it looks like I have this really big beer belly. I figured I’d better share it publicly.”
